In recent years, renewable energy industries have grown enormously. Since 2004 the number of employees has more than doubled. Particularly in the areas of wind power and solar energy there are acute personnel requirements. Staff requirement can be divided into three categories: ‘planning, design, financing‘, ‘sales, retail, logistics’ and ‘service, maintenance and repair‘. The reason for the shortage of skilled workers are too little sector-specific training and the rapid growth in these industries. Therefore, the majority of the company relies on skill development in the workplace.
That is why the Cluster Hamburg Renewable Energy launched the study ‘Analysis of personnel and training needs of the industry Renewable Energy in Hamburg and the Hamburg Metropolitan Region’. DSN and the Institute of Innovation and Technology (iit), Berlin were together charged with the study.
Primary objective was to determine the qualifications and staffing needs of the industry and to compare them with the current offers. Based on this, the identification of gaps and the development of innovative proposals for action was possible.
