The aim of the government is to make the rural areas attractive and sustainable for the future. Therefore 21 ‘AktivRegionen’ were created in Schleswig-Holstein in order to promote and fund activities. Uthlande is one of them and includes the North Frisian islands, islets and the island of Heligoland.

DSN was charged with the creation of an Integrated Development Strategy for the ‘AktivRegion Uthlande´. Areas of focus included a SWOT analysis, the involvement of local actors in the form of workshops and interviews, as well as the identification of development needs and potential. The Ministry of Rural Areas of the Land of Schleswig-Holstein has approved the submitted strategy.

For the implementation of projects during the funding period 2014 to 2020 the region has a budget of over € 2.8 million.
