An increasingly aging population and the increase in chronic diseases require new strategies and innovative solutions to the healthcare industry. About 50 participants from all areas of health care and economics from the districts of Schleswig-Flensburg and North Friesland as well as the independent city of Flensburg rise to this challenge. The health actors and organisations in the health region NORD want to pool their skills and create new services to improve medical care in rural and tourist-oriented space and strengthen the health economy.
The competition entry of the health region NORD "Future-oriented networking structures for chronically ill people" made it in June 2008 in the second round of the competition "Health Region of the Future - Progress through research and innovation" of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. By March 2009, the competition entry has been further developed into an overall concept. The five winning regions of the competition waved a grant of 40 million euros to implement their concepts.
DSN supported the actors in the construction of the network, developed the competition entry in collaboration with project partners and organised the project workshops.
