The market for nano technology develops dynamically. Nanoparticles are used in a wide range of applications, amongst others in industrial sectors which products directly get in touch with humans (food, cosmetics or pharmaceutical industry). Therefore, identifying its potential risks at an early stage is all the more important.

Extremely small nanoparticles below a critical size are able to penetrate human cell walls. Under certain circumstances they even lead to cell death. Hence, knowledge about size and form of nanoparticles are essential for the particle’s application in industry.

As a solution the project CheckNano will develop a miniaturised rapid test. The test will enable companies to identify in real time particles with critical size already in production.
Six project partners and eight network partners of science and business are involved in the development process of the Lab on Chip-prototype.

The project is funded by the programme Interreg Deutschland-Danmark with EUR 1 million. The German-Danish partners will work together for 36 months.
