Maritime ZIM network for 3D printing

Global sales in additive manufacturing with software, hardware and materials rose by 18 percent to over 8 billion euros in 2018. The 3D printing market is expected to continue to grow rapidly in the coming years. The technology has the potential to change global flows of goods and open up new opportunities for the shipping industry, for example, through the rapid and local production of spare parts.

This is why companies and research institutions have joined forces in the "MN3D" network. The MN3D partners want to develop additive manufacturing methods for the maritime sector. The network partners will also promote implementation in the maritime sector and suitable marketing strategies.
At the start, the MN3D network will comprise a total of 20 partners: ten SMEs and four research institutions as well as six other associated partners who will contribute their knowledge.

The MN3D network was funded by the ZIM programme from 1.1. to 31.12.2020.
DSN was commissioned as an agency with the network management and had the following tasks:

  • Creation of a technological Roadmap
  • Development of R&D Projects
  • Public relations for the Network
