Health is of great importance for every individual and for society as a whole. In the health economy, many people are dedicated to our health in a wide variety of sub-areas. Studies show that the health industry plays an important role in terms of employment for the economy in Germany and also in Schleswig-Holstein as a whole.

But what about the health economy in Kiel? What is the significance of the healthcare industry for the labour market in Kiel? What is the structure of the healthcare industry in Kiel? What potential is there for the future development of Kiel's health economy?
In order to find answers to such questions, Kieler Wirtschaftsförderungs- und Strukturentwicklungs GmbH (KiWi GmbH) commissioned a study from DSN to investigate the "Economic Potential of the Health Care Industry in Kiel".

The aim of the analysis was to ascertain the fundamental importance of the health industry and its economic potential for Kiel as a location, which can serve as a basis for active location development of this sector on the part of KiWi GmbH.
During the project phase, stakeholders from Kiel's healthcare industry were involved through membership of an accompanying working group and through participation in expert interviews conducted on site.
The study shows, among other things, that the healthcare industry is an important sector for Kiel as a location. Furthermore, the study sheds light on the strengths and weaknesses of Kiel as a location for the health economy and identifies possible potential for its further development.
